Over The Moon

This is such a cute stamp set! It’s so versatile and I have had great fun playing with it. I made this card for one of my friends and wanted to take myself out of my comfort zone. I decided to play with the stitched nested labels dies and created a frame for my lovely cows.

I stamped each cow and coloured them in. I then cut them out. I masked off the areas in I had cut out and coloured the backgrounds in. I then stamped sentiments into two of the cut out areas.

I then stuck the cows into their spaces and made sure that the card closed properly.

I really enjoyed playing with this and I was happy with the result. I just hope my friend likes it too.

Lovely is the Day

I have managed to find a couple of hours to play in my happy place today, so I have decided to try one of my new stamp sets.

I wanted to see what the different dies from the bundle did and I love this one. It half cuts out the flowers giving beautiful dimension to the card.

For this card I stamped and embossed onto vellum and then hid it behind the embossed frame. I used a stamp from the Praiseworthy Prose set and then embossed that too.

For this last card I embossed the All Wired up background stamp and then put a column of vellum onto the front of the card and then stamped and cut out the flowers. I am enjoying trying this stamp set and the dies from the bundle. It’s always fun to see the different ways I can find to use them.

It’s been a busy few days, my eldest daughter was briefly back from Uni and we drove back up with her to York. My youngest and I then got the train back from York and I went to watch her fly a plane for the first time on her own. Sometimes I cannot believe how lucky I am to have two wonderful daughters, both pursuing their passions. It’s a feeling that I can’t quite explain to watch your 17 year old daughter get into a small plane and fly off into the clouds!

Until next time – Happy Stamping

Leave a Little Sparkle

My youngest daughter is a lover of unicorns. Even though she’s now 17 and training to be a pilot she still loves the magic and the sparkle. I always think there’s room for some glitter on every card 🙂 I stamped the unicorn image onto acetate and used dazzling diamonds. I then cut out a frame and made another shaker card.

I stamped the card with the tiny stars in silver and pretty peacock ink and then used dazzling diamonds in the bottom corner below the sentiment. I attached some of the sequins on the front of the card and used some of the gorgeous foil from the noble peacock suite.

This is a gorgeous stamp set and I know I will be using it a lot in the future. My daughter will be 18 at the end of August and I think the cake toppers will be created using the above stamp. I hope you haven’t all been washed away in all the rain, I have been quite pleased the weathers been bad as it has allowed me to play in my happy place with al my fabulous Stampin Up stash!

Daisy Lane

I love the Daisy Lane Stamp set. It’s what I would call a happy stamp set. It has coordinating punches and is very versatile.

I decided to do something a little different by stamping and embossing the leaves in the background in gold, silver and copper embossing powders. I then overstamped it with mossy meadow.

I then stamped the leaves onto missy meadow cardstock and fussy cut them out. I stamped the daisy in white ink and punched them out. For the centres I used the perennial essence floral centres.

This is quite a different card for me and I am away from my comfort zone but I am quite happy with how it turned out.

A New Suite….

The new catalogue launches in less than a week!!! I am sooooo excited and if you would like a copy for yourself please let me know. One of the new ways to organise the catalogue is by introducing suites, these have everything in one place that allow you to create your very own masterpieces. One such suite is called Bird Ballard and I love it! It has the most beautiful papers and in the suite they have the beautiful metal embellishments I have used in the corner of the sentiment.

I created a background using an embossing folder and then cut out the frame using one of the designer series papers and added it to the embossed area using dimensionals to create an almost floating look. I then stamped the birds, flowers and leaves and coloured them using my blenders. I then fussy cut them all and stuck them onto the background and frame. I then cut out the sentiment and stuck it on together with some of the gorgeous metal embellishments. I then added pearls to the centres of the flowers because, well, why not?

I hope you like my card and it encourages you to have a go at creating something for yourself. Until next time

Magnolias and a new family member

I have been playing with one of the beautiful new stamp sets that will be available to you in June. It’s a beautiful set and very easy to use. It can come as a stand alone set or as part of a suite and within the suite is the gorgeous vellum I have used in this card.

I made another shaker card (I do love them) but this is the first time I’ve made one using vellum instead of acetate and I think it softens the card. I stuck a few of the sequins on the front. I coloured the magnolia using blends and my aquabrushes.

I gold embossed the sentiment on the front and the magnolia flower itself. I really enjoyed making this card and I hope you like it too.

Our new rescue dog arrived on Friday and we have called him Wadsworth (all our dogs are named after beer) He’s a real sweetheart and is starting to fit in well.

Here’s a few photos from the weekend of them enjoying the sun. I will be back soon with more cards for you. Until then,

Making Paper More Than Just For Backgrounds

So I’ve been busy preparing for our new dog arrival, we’ve adopted another dog from Romania and he’s leaving today and arriving on Friday. I hope he fits in well with our other three rescue dogs.

I have been playing though, my craft studio is my happy place. Today I decided to see how versatile the designer series paper is and I hope you find my examples helpful. The above card was made by cutting some of the beautiful flowers on the paper and adding them to a heart cut from the same paper. I stamp the sentiments onto Fresh Fig cardstock and emboss them with white embossing powder.

I cut out a rectangle from paper for the above example and coloured it in. I then added it on dimensionals to the uncoloured piece and stamped the sentiment, black embossed it and fussy cut it out to stick on top.

This final card has a bit of vellum to soften the background paper and then I fussy cut the butterflies from the designer series paper. I stamped the sentiment and punched it out and attached it to the card using dimensionals and to add a bit of bling I added some diamontes.

I am eagerly awaiting my delivery of pre ordered stash from the new catalogue and I can’t wait to play with all my goodies. I hope, in the meantime, that you find the above cards a useful tool to help you make more use of your designer series paper. Until next time

Playing With Paper

It’s been a wet, miserable kind of day here today so I’ve squirrelled myself away in my craft studio and took the plunge and cut up some designer series paper and vellum. I’m not sure if you’re like me but I usually only buy this paper to look at and stroke occasionally 😉 I had a real phobia about cutting it up and using it on cards. Last year i was lucky enough to attend another Stampin UP! demonstrators craft retreat and Julie gently coaxed me into cutting up y precious paper! Julie is so talented and you can check out her fabulous page on Facebook here :

I have used vellum pieces on these cards, and embossed the sentiment above in copper embossing powder (one of my favourites), I’ve found that I can stick patterned vellum onto cards without the glue showing through.

This card gives a sneak peak of a new stamp set arriving in the annual catalogue in June

This is the simplest of all the cards and is made for a friend who loves green as much as I do.

I feel quite accomplished having cut up card and vellum and it wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be, in fact, it was really fun! I’ve been joined in craft studio by Boddington and Bailey, two of our dogs. We brought these two back from China when we moved back to the UK last year. Bod has just been neutered so is wearing a rather fetching t-shirt to contain his modesty

Bailey, the poodle, likes to mother him. We also have another dog, Miller, she’s from Romania and I’m sure she’s half goat 🙂

Well, I’m off for a cuppa and to prepare dinner. Until next time
