Magnolias and a new family member

I have been playing with one of the beautiful new stamp sets that will be available to you in June. It’s a beautiful set and very easy to use. It can come as a stand alone set or as part of a suite and within the suite is the gorgeous vellum I have used in this card.

I made another shaker card (I do love them) but this is the first time I’ve made one using vellum instead of acetate and I think it softens the card. I stuck a few of the sequins on the front. I coloured the magnolia using blends and my aquabrushes.

I gold embossed the sentiment on the front and the magnolia flower itself. I really enjoyed making this card and I hope you like it too.

Our new rescue dog arrived on Friday and we have called him Wadsworth (all our dogs are named after beer) He’s a real sweetheart and is starting to fit in well.

Here’s a few photos from the weekend of them enjoying the sun. I will be back soon with more cards for you. Until then,

Making Paper More Than Just For Backgrounds

So I’ve been busy preparing for our new dog arrival, we’ve adopted another dog from Romania and he’s leaving today and arriving on Friday. I hope he fits in well with our other three rescue dogs.

I have been playing though, my craft studio is my happy place. Today I decided to see how versatile the designer series paper is and I hope you find my examples helpful. The above card was made by cutting some of the beautiful flowers on the paper and adding them to a heart cut from the same paper. I stamp the sentiments onto Fresh Fig cardstock and emboss them with white embossing powder.

I cut out a rectangle from paper for the above example and coloured it in. I then added it on dimensionals to the uncoloured piece and stamped the sentiment, black embossed it and fussy cut it out to stick on top.

This final card has a bit of vellum to soften the background paper and then I fussy cut the butterflies from the designer series paper. I stamped the sentiment and punched it out and attached it to the card using dimensionals and to add a bit of bling I added some diamontes.

I am eagerly awaiting my delivery of pre ordered stash from the new catalogue and I can’t wait to play with all my goodies. I hope, in the meantime, that you find the above cards a useful tool to help you make more use of your designer series paper. Until next time

Playing With Paper

It’s been a wet, miserable kind of day here today so I’ve squirrelled myself away in my craft studio and took the plunge and cut up some designer series paper and vellum. I’m not sure if you’re like me but I usually only buy this paper to look at and stroke occasionally 😉 I had a real phobia about cutting it up and using it on cards. Last year i was lucky enough to attend another Stampin UP! demonstrators craft retreat and Julie gently coaxed me into cutting up y precious paper! Julie is so talented and you can check out her fabulous page on Facebook here :

I have used vellum pieces on these cards, and embossed the sentiment above in copper embossing powder (one of my favourites), I’ve found that I can stick patterned vellum onto cards without the glue showing through.

This card gives a sneak peak of a new stamp set arriving in the annual catalogue in June

This is the simplest of all the cards and is made for a friend who loves green as much as I do.

I feel quite accomplished having cut up card and vellum and it wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be, in fact, it was really fun! I’ve been joined in craft studio by Boddington and Bailey, two of our dogs. We brought these two back from China when we moved back to the UK last year. Bod has just been neutered so is wearing a rather fetching t-shirt to contain his modesty

Bailey, the poodle, likes to mother him. We also have another dog, Miller, she’s from Romania and I’m sure she’s half goat 🙂

Well, I’m off for a cuppa and to prepare dinner. Until next time

Jar of Love

Jar of Love was a lovely versatile stamp set, it could turn its hand to most occasions and it’s sentiments were just that bit different, not covering your everyday basics and that’s why I was sad t see that it’s not carrying over to the new catalogue. Its definitely a set to own before it goes and if you would like one, hop over to my shop before it disappears forever!

The jar just cries out to be made into a shaker card and this is one I made for my friends little boy who has just got his first ever pet – a goldfish! The gold embossed fish and the white sequins all move about when the card is shaken and Elliott loved it (his fish is apparently called Fishy)

There are so many stamp sets retiring to make new for the gorgeous new ones that will arrive on June 4th. I’ve ordered plenty of catalogues and if you would like one, please email me and I will send one out to you. Until then

Floral Essence

I was lucky enough to receive this stamp set from the new catalogue and fell in love with it. I decided as it was raining that I should hide in my craft studio and play and this is what I came up with. The flowers have been coloured using the stampin blends and the back panel has been embossed. This is a really lovely set and I hope I’ve done it justice.

The new catalogue goes live in June but before then you have the chance to buy some of the retiring stock. Stampin UP! have made the decision to retire all wood mounted stamps and the clear stamps and only use photopolymer and cling stamps in the new catalogue so if you still want any wood mounted or clear stamps now is the time to grab them. Beware though, these are on a first come first serve basis and some stock is already selling out!

I have seen the new catalogue and I have to say its gorgeous and has some amazing new stamps and suites in there and some of the new paper is just stunning. I will be holding a launch party and I will give details nearer the time. Until then, sit back with a cuppa and clcik on the image above to grab yourself some bargains.

This Little Piggy

I love Jennifer McGuire! I love heading to her youtube channel and checking out what she’s been up to and then seeing how I can incorporate her ideas with my Stampin UP! stash. Today Jennifer has been making moving cards, you can find the link to her video here:

I loved how she got her elements to move on the card and I knew that I could take her idea and use it with the This Little Piggy stamp set. I followed Jennifers’ instructions and although you can’t see from the photo, in real life my little piggy skips across the grass when the card is shaken. It’s such a fun way to add a bit of extra interest to a card. Why not try it for yourself, all the supplies I used are listed below and are available in my shop.

Happy Easter everyone and until next time
