Create Your Own Backgrounds

I have had a gel press in my stash for years and recently it seems to have become a bit more trendy to use it, so I searched through my drawers and dusted it off. I then found a stencil and went to town. I used Rococo Rose and my white ink pad and layered away. I love the depth you can get from creating your own background papers. I then cut out the heart and the word love using the dies and stamped the sentiment and heat embossed it. I used another one of the dies to cut out the sentiment strip. The background paper, the word love and the sentiment strip are all mounted onto dimensional.

I created the background for this card in the same way but used gorgeous grape. I then cut out the butterflies using the Butterfly Beauty die from the main catalogue and then cut the butterflies apart. I then cut out one of the dies from the Painted Labels set to create a focal point for my greeting. I embossed the sentiment in black and cut out a few of the tiny butterflies. I then added some silver holographic sequins from my stash. To top off this card I took my Wink of Stellar pen and coloured on top of all the butterflies and the effect is gorgeous.

They are so sparkly and shiny and I just love them. I really enjoyed making these two cards and trying out new ways to use the same things. I have listed below the items I used and if you would like to have a go then click on my shop now button and you can order everything to be delivered straight to your door. Anyone who orders the sets for these cards will receive a free instruction booklet with easy to follow steps showing you how I made them so you can have a go yourself.

Right, I am now off to walk the dogs. Until next time

Simply Succulents

Another stamp set that I have fallen in love with. Simply Succulents! I always try to buy the bundle as I get an extra 10% off. This bundle is particularly beautiful as it comes with a background die which I have used on both of my cards today. On the above card I have used it as a background and the stamps as the focal point. I coloured the succulents in with the blending markers. I love these as they are alcohol ink rather than “normal” ink so they don’t show any lines when you colour with them as they are designed to blend in with other colours, hence the name.

On this card I used the background die as the focal point to make a shaker card (I do love a shaker card). I used some background paper from the Hydrangea suite. This was a super quick card to make but so beautiful, I love the colours here.

I will be back again soon, just got to help the youngest as she has dislocated her knee and is using crutches. Until then

Snailed It!

I love this little set with coordinating dies. I decided to make 3 little tiny cards to send out to some of my friends just to say hello.

I coloured them in with my blender pens so they were very quick to make and I just had to add the google eyes.

This is one that I made with lighter colours. I hope you like them as much as I do.

Love is in the Air

So Stampin Up have brought out their annual mini catalogue and it’s full of gorgeous things. With Valentines Day fast approaching I decided to use a couple of the sets to show you how you can create some simple and some more elaborate cards for someone you love.

So this card is the most elaborate of the three. It uses the gold flakes as an accent on the flowers and leaves, it’s so easy to use but gives such a lovely effect.

To continue the gold I used some gold mirror card for some of the leaves and some gold embellishments too.

This second card uses a sentiment from one set and the detailed hearts die from the main catalogue. This card was super quick to make. I cut out the detailed heart and then coloured some of the hearts in using my pens.

This was the quickest card of the three using an embossing folder and some of the gorgeous dies from the set.

I hope I have showed you that there is always a card to be made even if you only have a few minutes to make it.

If you would like to order any of the supplies, let me know and I can get them for you

Quick and Easy

I wanted to make some quick cards to send out this year along with more detailed ones. This card came together very quickly yet still looks Christmassy thanks to the gold embossing and the red glitter.

I was able to create these cards very quickly as I stamped a whole batch of green squares with versamark ink and then added the gold embossing powder. I mass produced the red and gold ribbons and the die cut piece by stamping lots and then cutting them all out.

The gold embossing really does make the card a bit special. The cards literally took minutes to make but are perfect when you need to make a lot of cards in a hurry.

I have listed all the supplies I used below and you can order them from my shop now button and have them all shipped straight to your door, giving you something to do during this second lockdown.

Have a Hoot

This set is super cute! The designs are gorgeous and so quick and easy to make a card. Of course I added some wink of stella to each card to ass that extra sparkle.

I created a mask for each design and made it just a bit bigger as I knew that I wanted to blend some dark ink over it for the sky. I added glitter to the hats too (I love glitter)

I added gold embossing powder for the sentiment. Aren’t they cute? I love the idea of them kissing under the mistletoe.

I also created a tiny treat box so I could send some handmade earrings with the card for one of my gorgeous friends.

I have been very busy moving my craft studio. It’s now a much better space for me and I know I will be able to work better in there. I honestly didn’t realise just how much stuff I have and as per “The Home Edit” I still have “overflow” craft items in my old studio. I also have about 200 stamp sets that I will be selling so watch this space.

My youngest daughter passed her first 3 ATPL exams despite her beloved Grandadddy passing away a couple of days before. She was absolutely devastated and I am very proud at the way she coped.

My eldest daughter is back in York working on a surgical ward and loving it. She’s 21 next week and we had so many things planned which have had to be shelved so I have decided to make a lot of little things for her to hopefully make the day as special as it can be in these challenging circumstances.

I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Should you wish to have go at making the cards above, I have listed all the bits you need below and they can be purchased from my online shop. Just click on the shop now button.

A few more Poinsettias

I’ve made a few more cards with this gorgeous set. I kept to the traditional red and gold colours of Christmas and these were really quick to put together. I spent an hour or so cutting out lots and lots of the flowers and leaves so I would have a good stash of them as I know I will be making a lot of these cards this Christmas.

I used gold embossing powder on this sentiment and the gold foils from the annual catalogue which are perfect for cards like these.

Another one with the foil cutouts and gold embossing For the sentiment. Every card has wink of Stella on them as I love the subtle sparkle it gives and it makes it even more Christmassy.

Our toy poodle had to have knee surgery on Wednesday and shes been confined to her crate for 4-6 weeks (with some extra cuddles of course). The other 4 dogs are suitably concerned and confused as to why she’s not bossing them about.

If you fancy making some of the above Christmas cards, I have listed all the supplies I used below. You can have them all delivered to your door using my shop now button.

Poinsettia Place

This suite is just sooooo Christmassy! The dies cut and emboss the flowers and leaves and I have only just touched the surface of what you can do with it with this card and box.

I went with traditional Christmas colours to create a card that had dimension and I hope you can see the touch of sparkle from the wink of stellar pen on the flower.

I curved the petals inwards to create dimension of the poinsettia and it really looks like it’s sitting on the card.

I then decided to make a small box that could hold a piece of jewellery or a few Ferrero Rocher chocolates.

I carried the red, gold and green across with the box but used Cherry Cobbler for the poinsettia this time. It was so quick to make but looks lovely and I have already been asked to make a few sets for friends and family.

It’s an exciting week for me as my eldest daughter finishes her placement this week so she can come home for a few days and be spoilt.

I hope you’re all staying safe in the winds that are pounding our country today, why not stay in, in the warm and have a go at creating this project. I have listed all the supplies below and they can be delivered straight to your door through my shop now button.

Last Few….

I love the embossing folder that is available in the new catalogue and decided to use that together with some of the gorgeous gold foil accents from the annual catalogue. This card came together so quickly yet is so Christmassy.

Again another really quick card using one of the stamps in the bundle to create my own background and I used gold embossing powder to create more interest. It really is merry and bright.

And last, but by no means least, I used the other border die and the joy stop to create another really quick card. I filled the berry’s in with red glitter and they really catch the light.

It’s been soooooo hot lately and last night we had a rumbling thunderstorm for a few hours and a tiny bit of rain but it’s just as hot today. I really can’t complain though as my eldest daughter is a student nurse who opened in and has been working on the acute medical ward during the Covid crisis. I am so incredibly proud of her and a little in awe of her courage and commitment.

She sent me this phot after a 13 hour shift in this horrible heat whilst having to wear a mask and glasses and putting on full PPE when necessary. I miss her when she’s away at uni and I am thankful that there are such things as face time etc.

I really hope this has shown you lots of different ways you can use the one bundle to create quick and easy Christmas cards. Should you wish to order any of the items I have used today I have listed them below. Just click on my shop now button and Stampin Up will send them straight to you.
